Vernie Reed is a phenomenal maker who gives us some of the most elaborate and finely worked folding knives in the industry. This stunning knife is known as his large Persian. There is plenty of 18kt gold and jewels all over the knife, and the engraved filework with golf and rubies is truly a sight to behold. The inside of the knife is equally decorated. 18kt gold thumbstud and bale top off this stunning beauty. -

Vernie Reed, who was an apprentice of Jerry Corbit, may have equaled his teacher with this stunning piece. Fluted presentation grade mother-of-pearl scales, 18k gold wire-wrap and six rubies set on each side of the scales really embellish the profile of this knife. The beauty lies in the spine where you can see rubies, pearl inlayes and gorgeous file work. In addition, the inside of the spine is decorated exactly the same as the outside; tremendous eye appeal. -

As you can tell by looking at these pages, we think very highly of Vernie Reed. He's a fantastic maker with loads of talent. In this rendition of his classic large Persian folder, one cannot help but notice the size of these black lip pearl scales. Originally before working on them, they were 3 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide, and extremely expensive. You don't find black pearl much larger than this (as a matter of fact, about one year ago, a pair that was about 4 inches long and the same width sold for $1600 a pair at auction). Vernie has added an 18kt gold spacer with engraving and diamonds between the pearl and Eggerling damascus bolsters. The filework is truly beautiful and it has diamonds, gold bars and engraving throughout the back of the spine and the inside of the spine. To top it off, he's added an 18ky gold bale, gold screws, and an 18kt gold thumbstud with a diamond in it. To call this folder magnificent would be an understatement. -

Vernie Reed and master engraver Harry Limmings, have really put their hearts into this one. The engraving is dazzling. The theme of this liner-lock is "basket of flowers". Gold abounds everywhere on this knife; from the wire wrap fluted black lip pearl handle, to the gold bars in this most intricately carved file work sequence, to the flower inlays along the Eggerling damascus blade. Most impressive is the amount of gold he has used on the actual flower-in-the-basket engraving; beautifully done. This is literally a drop-dead gorgeous knife. -
